Gelaouzos Acquitted in Doping Case from 2022

Konstantinos Gelaouzos, a leading Greek marathon runner, has been acquitted by the Greek courts regarding a positive doping sample taken on October 20, 2022.

The 35-year-old athlete, holder of the Greek record in the classic route with 2:16:49 from 2021, had tested positive in a doping test. After three years and three months, the court declared him innocent.

Gelaouzos, in a statement, said that he trusted Justice and expects institutional consistency from the disciplinary bodies. He also announced legal action to restore his name.

In his post, Gelaouzos stressed that he remains an athlete and wishes to return to racing.

The court's decision was issued on January 26, 2026.
