Duplantis Aims for World Athletics Presidency

Mondo Duplantis, named the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year for 2025, has expressed his desire to become president of World Athletics after retiring from pole vaulting. In an interview with the Guardian, the 26-year-old, who has broken 14 world records, stated that he wants to follow in the footsteps of Seb Coe.
"I still have a lot to achieve and I don't lack motivation. I will become the new Seb Coe... But I want to help grow athletics as much as possible because it is the No. 1 Olympic sport," Duplantis stated.
Sebastian (Seb) Coe, former middle-distance runner and current president of World Athletics, won two Olympic gold medals in the 1,500 meters (1980, 1984) and played a key role in organizing the 2012 London Olympic Games.
