Ataman: "We showed that we are one of the best teams in the tournament"

Turkey's coach, Ergin Ataman, stated after his team's 93-73 victory over Latvia in the EuroBasket 2025 premiere, that his team is one of the best in the tournament.

"I think when you play away, the start is very important. So we started the game very well with excellent defense, we moved the ball, inside and out, and we took control of the game. Only in the last part of the second period did we make some unnecessary mistakes. The start of the second half was also important. We didn't let them find easy shots," Ergin Ataman mentioned.

"I think we played perfect basketball. A very important victory for us. I think we showed all of Europe that we are one of the best teams in this tournament. Before the game, I saw that everyone considered Latvia a favorite. But I told my players that we are a strong team and we showed that on the court. Now, it is important to play the same basketball in the remaining games," he added.
