Datome considers Greece a favorite for a Eurobasket medal

Gigi Datome, general manager of the Italian national team, considers Greece one of the teams that are favorites for a medal at the upcoming Eurobasket.

In his statements, Datome mentioned that besides Greece, France, Germany, and Serbia are also among the favorites. He expressed his hope that Italy will compete for a medal, something he did not achieve as a player.

"Why shouldn't we compete for a medal? It's my dream and I hope we can do it, because I didn't experience it as a player. But there are many teams that can get on the podium: France, Germany, Serbia, Greece, Lithuania, Turkey, Spain, Latvia, Slovenia... How can you leave any of them out? Our goal, however, is to be there and seize the opportunity if it presents itself," Datome stated.

The Greek national team is in the preparation stage for Eurobasket and will face Montenegro on August 14 in Thessaloniki. This will be followed by the Aegean Acropolis tournament at OAKA.
