Dennis Schröder, in a recent interview, expressed his belief that he will never receive the same love in Germany as Dirk Nowitzki, due to his skin color.

Speaking to the German stern ahead of EuroBasket 2025, Schröder referred to Nowitzki and explained that he believes Germans will never love him the way they loved the former Dallas Mavericks star.

"When I was 14 years old, I watched Dirk Nowitzki carry the flag at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Then I thought 'how nice, there is no greater honor'. It is indeed a great honor, but for me it will never be the same as for Dirk. I will never receive the same love in this country because I am dark-skinned," Schröder stated.

Furthermore, Schröder expressed his belief in winning EuroBasket: "We will win the title (EuroBasket). If I wasn't convinced of that, I wouldn't play in the tournament and would rather spend my time in Braunschweig."
