The confrontation began when Brooks fell to the ground, with James reportedly calling him "soft." Brooks responded by pushing James with the ball, provoking the "King's" reaction: "Don't throw the f*cking ball at me! Chill the f*ck out with that bullsh*t!".

Following intervention from the referee and Lakers coach JJ Redick, the tension continued. Brooks allegedly told LeBron, "You're flopping!", with LBJ responding "Bitch" after making a three-pointer.
