Lakers' Ayton Detained in Bahamas for Marijuana Possession

Los Angeles Lakers center Deandre Ayton was detained at Lynden Pindling International Airport in the Bahamas on suspicion of possessing a small amount of marijuana.
His lawyer, Devard Francis, confirmed the news. Ayton was released after it was proven that the marijuana did not belong to him, but to another person at the airport.
"Investigators found that the very small amount of marijuana was not in Deandre's bag, however, they proceeded with the necessary procedures and he was released immediately," Francis said.
According to the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, players are no longer tested for marijuana, which has been removed from the "blacklist." In the Bahamas, however, possession remains illegal.
