Ali Koç: "This is why I fired Mourinho"

Fenerbahçe President, Ali Koç, has revealed for the first time the reasons for the dismissal of José Mourinho from the team's coaching position.

Ali Koç emphasized that the decision was difficult but necessary for Fenerbahçe to play better football. "It was a bitter separation. Our chemistry was excellent. We knew that our coach has a defensive orientation. But we talked about our need to play more aggressively, especially at the end of the season," he stated.

According to Koç, the elimination from Benfica and the manner in which it occurred played a decisive role. "This made me believe that the football we saw last year we would see again this year. We continued on separate paths because we believe that the team will play better football. What Mourinho was playing works in Europe, however in Turkey you have to play more aggressively," he concluded.
