Mbappé: «Cristiano Ronaldo is my idol»

Kylian Mbappé revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo is his idol, explaining how the Portuguese star helped him regain his confidence when he faced difficulties at Real Madrid.

The French striker, who scored in France's friendly match against Brazil, emphasized the importance of Ronaldo's support. «Cristiano Ronaldo is my idol. When I had a hard time at Real Madrid last season, I called him and he helped me regain my confidence. I am really grateful to him,» Mbappé said, according to Fabrizio Romano.

This is not the first time Mbappé has referred to Ronaldo. On December 20, 2025, he had equaled Ronaldo's record with 59 goals in a year with Real Madrid. After that game, Mbappé had stated that his celebration was dedicated to Ronaldo, who had helped him adjust to the team.

France's coach, Didier Deschamps, mentioned that the substitutions of Mbappé and Dembélé were planned and not due to injuries.
