Marko Grujić Arrives in Athens for AEK

Marko Grujić has arrived in Athens to finalize his transfer to AEK. The 29-year-old Serbian midfielder landed at Athens International Airport “El. Venizelos” on Monday (1/9) and is expected to undergo medical examinations and sign his contract with the team.

Grujić, who has agreed to all terms with AEK, joins as a free agent after 3.5 seasons at Porto. Porto had paid 9 million euros to acquire him from Liverpool in January 2022.

Marko Nikolić chose Grujić for the No. 6 position. Grujić has 28 caps for the Serbian national team. He started his career at Red Star Belgrade and in 2016 was acquired by Liverpool for 7 million euros. He has also played on loan at Cardiff, Hertha Berlin, and Porto.

In 279 career matches, he has 24 goals and 17 assists. Last season, he had 5 appearances due to an Achilles tendon problem, for which he underwent surgery.
