Berbatov: "I was kidnapped for a transfer"

Dimitar Berbatov revealed to Rio Ferdinand an unbelievable story from his time playing for CSKA Sofia.

In a vidcast with Ferdinand, Berbatov described how, at the age of 18, after a training session, a teammate took him to a restaurant where a group of people were waiting for him.

"He took me to a restaurant, where at one table sat one person alone, and at the other tables sat in threes some... beasts, you know, Balkan guys. Their boss told me that they called him 'the cook' and he wanted me on their team," Berbatov said.

Berbatov replied that he belonged to CSKA Sofia and was happy there. After a few hours, he was allowed to contact his father, and eventually the teams' administrations reached an agreement for Berbatov to stay at CSKA.

"At 18, experiencing such situations in Bulgaria, I started thinking 'that's it, I'm done...'", Berbatov said, explaining how he was forced to mature abruptly.
