AEK coach Marko Nikolic emphasized the need for respect towards opponents after the 3-1 defeat by Celje in Slovenia, for the League Phase of the Conference League.

In the post-match press conference, Nikolic stated that the defeat should serve as a lesson for his players. He also stressed that the team must react immediately in the next league game.

"We are all responsible and deserve to have lost this match, except for our fans. I feel sorry for them," Nikolic said, adding that the team conceded three goals and did not properly contest the second balls.

Nikolic pointed out that he did not like the way the defeat came about and stressed the need to always give their best, fighting every phase until the end. "This is inferior in European football. It is not allowed to happen," he said regarding the loss of second balls.
