Apollon Larissa Officials, Players Face Trial for Match-Fixing

Officials and players of Apollon Larissa are facing trial at the Three-Member Criminal Court of Appeals of Larissa, accused of bribery and accepting bribes to manipulate the outcome of 13 football matches.
The case file concerns matches of the Football League, the Greek Cup, and Super League 2, which took place from 2017 to 2021. According to the newspaper 'Eleftheria', the case is based on documents from the EPO (Hellenic Football Federation), reports from the EPO's Intelligence and Research Services, Sportradar, and Genius Sports, as well as a confidential report from UEFA.
The trial is scheduled for May 25, 2026. The accused allegedly conspired to manipulate the matches, with players showing reduced performance to alter the outcome, as bettors had prior knowledge.
A second trial will also be held on May 5 at the Three-Member Criminal Court of Appeals, regarding the match Iraklis Larissa - Agrotikos Asteras (1-3 on 5/6/2022), where two players are accused of bribery and accepting bribes.
