Pellistri Returns to Athens After Uruguay Release

Facundo Pellistri is returning to Athens to rejoin Panathinaikos after being released from the Uruguay squad ahead of their friendly against the USA. Marcelo Bielsa dismissed him along with four other players.

The 23-year-old winger, who was recovering from an injury and had limited playing time in the derby against PAOK, was granted permission to return to Greece. Panathinaikos had sent the player's medical file to the Uruguayan federation. Ultimately, it was decided that he would return to the team's preparation ahead of the match against Panserraikos.

Pellistri did not play in the game against Mexico due to muscle overload. Following his release by Bielsa, he is returning to join Rafa Benitez's team.
