Sporting Lisbon: Over €700M from Player Sales

Sporting Lisbon has accumulated over €700 million from player sales under the presidency of Frederico Varandas, starting in 2018. This includes winning three league titles, three League Cups, two Portuguese Cups, and one Super Cup.

One of the most notable moves was the sale of Rúben Amorim to Manchester United for €10 million, plus an additional million for his staff. Sporting also sold Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United for €55 million (up to €65 million with bonuses) in January 2020.

Other significant sales include Raphinha (Barcelona) to Rennes for €21 million and Thierry Correia to Valencia for €12 million. In the 2022/23 season, Matheus Nunes, Nuno Mendes, and Palhinha departed for approximately €140 million.

In the current year, Sporting has generated €162.56 million in sales, including Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal (€65 million + €10 million bonuses) and Quenda to Chelsea (€50 million).

Eight of Sporting's biggest sales have come from players developed in their academy, the 'Academia Cristiano Ronaldo', bringing in a total of €238.85 million.
