Joan Gonzalez ends career at 23 due to heart condition

Spanish midfielder Joan Gonzalez has announced his early retirement from football at the age of 23 due to a heart condition. The diagnosis was made a year ago, forcing him to retire from active play.

Gonzalez, a product of Barcelona's academies, played for Lecce in Serie A, where he made 64 appearances.

In his message, Gonzalez thanked Lecce, his teammates and the fans for their support.
