Triantis Chooses Greece Over Australia for National Team

Nectarios Triantis has chosen to play for the Greek National Team instead of Australia. Ivan Jovanovic gains an additional asset as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The 22-year-old defender, born in Sydney to Greek parents, previously played for Australia's youth national teams but expressed his desire to represent Greece. He has now secured the necessary paperwork.
He began his career with Sydney Wanderers and later moved to Central Coast Mariners. In 2023, he transferred to Sunderland, from which he was loaned to Hibernian in the 2024-25 season. Returning to Sunderland, he is expected to play in the Premier League.
Triantis has 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Two of his brothers, Chris and Peter, were professional soccer players. He lost his father at the age of 8.
Triantis stated that his heart led him to the decision to choose Greece.
