Fernando Santos: End of Tenure with Azerbaijan

Fernando Santos is no longer the coach of the Azerbaijan national team. The country's football federation announced the mutual termination of the contract with the 70-year-old Portuguese coach.

In 11 matches under Santos' leadership, Azerbaijan recorded nine losses and two draws. His last appearance on the bench was the 5-0 defeat to Iceland.

"The coach of the Azerbaijan national team, Fernando Santos, has left. The contract between the AFFA management and the Portuguese coach was terminated by mutual agreement. Our national team will be led by the coach of the U-21 team, Aykhan Abbasov, in the match against Ukraine," the Federation's announcement stated.
