Palestinian Footballers Send Message of Peace from Bilbao

The Palestinian football team sent a message of peace from Bilbao, where they were defeated 3-0 by the team of the "Basque Country" in a symbolic match on 15/11. The match was the team's first in Europe.

More than 50,000 spectators attended the match at the San Mamés stadium. Before the start, a banner read: "Dignity, freedom, peace."

Coach Ehab Abu Jazzar stated that he lost nearly 200 people in his family and his home was destroyed. The president of the Palestinian Football Federation, Jibril Rajoub, reported that 1,100 athletes have been killed and 289 sports facilities have been destroyed.

Yaser Hamed, a Palestinian defender who plays in Qatar, emphasized the responsibility of the players to bring joy to their compatriots. Ahmad Alkak, born in the USA, expressed hope that the matches will raise awareness of the situation in Gaza.
