Indian Wells: Swiatek eliminates Sakkari, to play doubles with Tsitsipas

Iga Swiatek defeated Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-2 in the third round of the Indian Wells tournament in the USA. Swiatek, ranked No. 2 in the world, thus avenged her recent defeat by Sakkari in Doha.

Despite Sakkari (No. 34 in the world) starting with a break, Swiatek dominated, winning the first set 6-3. In the second set, Swiatek broke serve and took the lead, eventually winning 6-2.

Sakkari will continue at Indian Wells, participating in the mixed doubles with Stefanos Tsitsipas. They will face the Dalinina and Khachanov duo in the first round.
