Novak Djokovic advanced to the round of 16 at Indian Wells for the first time since 2017, defeating Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

The Serbian tennis player, a five-time champion of the tournament, needed three sets to overcome the American opponent. In the next round, he will face Jack Draper or Francisco Cerundolo.

Djokovic admitted that the match was demanding due to the difficult conditions and the good performance of Kovacevic. With this victory, he became the second oldest player to reach the fourth round of the tournament, after Ivo Karlovic.

Despite his five titles at Indian Wells, Djokovic has struggled in recent years to excel in the tournament.

A few hours after his qualification, Djokovic also competed in the men's doubles with Stefanos Tsitsipas.
