Maria Sakkari was defeated by Jessica Pegula 2-0 in the second round of the Canadian Open in Montreal, resulting in her elimination from the tournament.

Pegula, ranked No. 4 in the world, dominated the match, winning the first set 7-5 and the second 6-4.
