Sakkari Achieves 'Point of the Year' at Australian Open

Maria Sakkari started strong at the Australian Open, defeating Léolia Jeanjean 2-0 in sets (6-4, 6-2). Beyond the victory, Sakkari impressed with an exceptional shot in the second set, which she described as the 'best shot of her career'.

Specifically, in the second set, with the score at 4-2 in her favor, Sakkari managed to pass the ball next to the net, winning a spectacular point. After the match, Sakkari stated that she had only seen such shots from Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz.

In the second round, Sakkari will face the winner of the match between Mira Andreeva and Donna Vekic.

In the first set, Jeanjean started strong and took a 3-0 lead. However, Sakkari recovered and with five consecutive games won the set 6-4. In the second set, after an initial 2-2, Sakkari dominated and won the set 6-2, securing her spot in the next round.
