AI: Tech Companies Investing More Than US Government

US tech giants are increasing their investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI), with spending expected to reach $155 billion in 2025.
This amount exceeds the current spending by the US government on education, training, employment, and social services. Companies like Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet (Google) have already announced significant capital expenditures (Capex) for AI development.
These investments primarily involve the construction and upgrading of data centers, which require large amounts of energy and water, as well as advanced semiconductor chips.
For the next fiscal year, the total capital expenditures of major tech companies are expected to increase further. Microsoft plans to invest approximately $100 billion, Meta between $66 and $72 billion, Alphabet $85 billion, and Amazon estimates its spending at $100 billion.
In total, these four companies are expected to spend over $400 billion in Capex investments.
