Concerns Over AI Use in School Assignments

Parents are expressing concerns about the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by students for completing school assignments. While AI can be a learning tool, there are fears that it will be used for copying and avoiding genuine learning.

CNN Professor Kara Alaimo points out that using chatbots to write assignments deprives students of the opportunity to learn. She emphasizes the importance of using AI as a learning tool and not as a 'shortcut' for quick results.

Robbie Torney from Common Sense Media suggests that parents discuss with their children the goal of learning and development, and use AI as a teacher to explain difficult concepts. He also points out that chatbots can provide inaccurate information and that it is important to verify the information received from them.

Finally, the importance of establishing clear family rules for the use of chatbots is emphasized, as well as avoiding providing personal information to them.
