Australia: VPN Usage Surges After Pornography Blocking

VPN usage is increasing in Australia following the implementation of new rules requiring age verification (18+) before accessing pornographic content. The new regulations affect platforms and apps, and a major distributor of pornographic material has already blocked users from Australia.

The eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, stated that the measures aim to protect children online, as is the case in real life. Australia has also imposed restrictions on the use of social media by teenagers and requires chatbot services to filter inappropriate content.

Similar measures have been taken by other countries, including Britain, France, and the USA.
