CATL Battery Lasts Over 1,700,000 km

Chinese company CATL, the world's largest supplier of electric vehicle batteries, has unveiled a new 5C technology battery. According to the company, the battery retains 80% of its initial capacity after 3,000 full charge cycles, equivalent to approximately 1,700,000 kilometers.

In a 60 degrees Celsius environment, the battery can withstand approximately 1,400 charging cycles or over 800,000 kilometers. The 5C technology allows charging from 0% to 100% in about 12 minutes, with a charging power of up to 400 kW.

CATL attributes this capability to improved cell chemistry, an advanced thermal management system, and an advanced BMS. Mass production and the first models to use the new battery have not yet been announced.
