Germany Requests Apple, Google to Ban DeepSeek

The German data protection commissioner has requested Apple and Google to remove the Chinese AI company DeepSeek from their app stores in Germany, citing concerns about personal data protection.
Commissioner Meike Kamp stated that DeepSeek illegally transfers user personal data to China. Apple and Google are urged to review the request immediately.
DeepSeek stores personal data on computers in China and failed to provide convincing evidence of data protection for German users.
Italy has already blocked DeepSeek, while the Netherlands has banned it on government devices. Belgium has advised government officials not to use it.
In Spain, the OCU has requested an investigation into the threats posed by DeepSeek.
US lawmakers plan to ban the use of AI models developed in China.
