Google Avoids Chrome Sale, Must Share Search Data

Google avoided being forced to sell Chrome and Android in a U.S. antitrust trial but will have to share search data with competitors. The court ruling imposes restrictions on Google, as it will not be able to enter into exclusive distribution agreements for key services such as Chrome, Search, Google Assistant, and Gemini.

The U.S. Department of Justice emphasized that the verdict "opens the search market" and prevents Google from applying the same anti-competitive practices in the field of generative AI. The case is considered crucial for major technology companies facing scrutiny for abuse of dominant position.
