Google AI Analyzes Oceans of Data to Monitor Earth Changes

Google researchers have unveiled a new AI model, AlphaEarth Foundations, that analyzes vast amounts of satellite data to monitor changes on the planet.
The system combines trillions of satellite measurements and maps land and coastal waters "anywhere, anytime," according to Christopher Brown, a researcher at DeepMind.
AlphaEarth Foundations is expected to be used in various applications, including studying the impacts of climate change, responding to natural disasters, and managing crops.
The model divides the Earth into ten-by-ten meter squares, with each square containing satellite images, radar measurements, 3D maps, and climate simulations.
According to Google, the system outperforms other AI models and requires less storage space.
The model is available through the Google Earth Engine.
