Cyprus Achieves Quantum Leap in Cybersecurity with TEPAK Network

The Technological University of Cyprus (TEPAK) has led the successful development of Cyprus' first national quantum communication network, under the CYQCI initiative. The project was co-funded by the European Commission and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy (ΥΕΚΨΠ).
The network has established Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) links between seven critical state entities, providing secure communication. The successful operation was presented at the Digital Security Authority (ΑΨΑ) on June 5, with a live video call between ΑΨΑ and ΥΕΚΨΠ.
Dr. Konstantinos Katzis announced plans to expand the network via satellite connections, in collaboration with other EU member states. The QKD network is a defense against current and future threats, enhancing Cyprus' digital sovereignty.
