LinkedIn is starting to use the public data of its users in the EU to train artificial intelligence (AI) models. The platform will use posts, articles, answers, and resumes to fuel "generative artificial intelligence."

The company, owned by Microsoft, clarified that private messages and salary data will not be used. Users can opt-out through their privacy settings. This policy, already in effect in the US, is being extended to the EU, Britain, Switzerland, Canada, and Hong Kong.

Meta (Facebook, Instagram) is also following a similar practice, using public content to train its own AI models.
