Musk vs. Apple and OpenAI: Lawsuit for Unfair AI Competition
Share on:

Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI, accusing them of unfair competition in the field of artificial intelligence. He claims that Apple promotes ChatGPT in the AppStore, while simultaneously "refusing" to include Grok, the chatbot of xAI.

In the lawsuit filed in a Texas federal court, Musk is seeking billions of dollars in damages, arguing that Apple and OpenAI are trying to maintain their monopolies. He points to Apple's agreement with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its devices.

An OpenAI spokesperson responded by accusing Musk of harassment, while Apple has not commented. Musk has also previously denounced the 30% App Store commission and accused Apple of censoring Twitter.

Musk also has a separate lawsuit pending against OpenAI for its attempt to become a for-profit business. Musk and Altman co-founded OpenAI in 2015, but Musk left in 2018.
