Low Temperatures and Car Engine: Maintenance Tips

Low temperatures can put a strain on your car's engine. Humidity and frost make starting and lubrication difficult. It is important to let the engine run at low speeds for a few minutes after starting, so that the parts are properly lubricated.
Avoid sudden acceleration and the use of systems that strain the battery, such as heated seats and the heater at full blast, immediately after starting. Also, cabin heating will not work effectively if the engine is cold.
Whistling or metallic sounds may indicate problems with the belts or oil. Proper car maintenance is essential, especially in winter, to avoid damage and increase engine life.
Tip: Do not skip proper car maintenance and allow moving parts time to function smoothly in the cold.
