Grand Egyptian Museum Opens in Giza

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) officially opened on Saturday in Giza, Egypt, and is hailed as the world's largest archaeological museum dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization. The inauguration ceremony was held under the presidency of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, with the presence of heads of state and dignitaries, including Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Spanning 500,000 sq. meters, the museum houses 100,000 artifacts covering Egyptian history from the Predynastic period to the Roman era. The entrance features the statue of Ramses II, and the complete collection of Tutankhamun's treasures is presented for the first time.
Designed by Heneghan Peng Architects, the museum blends modern architecture with ancient symbolism. It features state-of-the-art systems and is expected to attract 8 million visitors annually, contributing to the revitalization of tourism.
