New Regulations for Caravan Holidays: What's Changing

New regulations now govern caravan holidays, aiming to protect the environment and prevent lawlessness. The regulations concern parking conditions inside and outside residential areas.
According to clarifications from the General Directorate of Security Policing, parking in organized campsites is legal. However, private individuals or shopkeepers cannot accommodate more than one caravan without a permit.
In residential areas, parking of caravans longer than 7.5 meters is prohibited for more than 24 consecutive hours. For smaller caravans, parking is allowed as long as the rules of the Road Traffic Code (KOK) are not violated. The same applies to beaches within residential areas.
Outside residential areas, parking is only allowed in designated areas or on the shoulders of roads. In archaeological sites, parking is allowed in parking lots or along the road, subject to regulations.
Accommodation inside a caravan is allowed as long as it is legally parked and does not constitute installation (e.g., deployment of external equipment). Violations are punishable by fines of 300-3,000 euros and imprisonment up to 3 months.
