Kavala's Imaret: Reopening as a Top Wellness Destination

The iconic Imaret hotel in Kavala is reopening after renovations, transforming into a premier wellness destination. The 19th-century landmark, built by Mehmet Ali Pasha, the founder of the Egyptian dynasty, covers an area of 4,500 square meters.

Initially, Imaret functioned as an Islamic educational and charitable institution, providing shelter and food to those in need. Following the population exchange in 1923, it was used for various purposes before being abandoned.

The Missirian family, particularly Anna Tzouma-Missirian, initiated efforts to renovate it, starting in 2001. In 2004, it reopened as a hotel, museum, and research center. Today, in collaboration with fitness and wellness consultant Nikos Kouremenos, it aims to create a world-class wellness destination in Kavala.
