Hatzidakis: The environment is Greece's wealth

The Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis, emphasized the importance of protecting the environment as Greece's true wealth during Travel.gr's Greece Talks.
Participating in the panel "Crete: Connecting the destination with the world," within the framework of the conference "Greece Talks, Crete Forward: Experience, Culture & Connection," organized by Travel.gr in collaboration with Proto Thema and with the support of the Region of Crete, Mr. Hatzidakis referred to the need for sustainable tourism development.
Mr. Hatzidakis characterized last year as a record year for Greek tourism, with a 9% increase in revenue and 38 million visitors. He also referred to international developments, particularly the war in the Middle East.
Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister referred to infrastructure projects in Crete, such as the electrification of the island via the station in Damasta and the two interconnections with the Peloponnese and Athens. Regarding the labor market, he noted that unemployment has fallen to 7.5% and 560,000 jobs have been created.
The panel also included Grecotel CEO Mari Daskalantonaki, Ioannis Grylos, Kyriakos Mageiras, and Andreas Taprantzis.
