Afghanistan: New Strong Earthquake of 5.2 Richter Scale in the East

A new earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale has struck eastern Afghanistan, two days after a devastating earthquake that killed at least 1,400 people.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 34 km northeast of the city of Jalalabad, in the province of Nangarhar, at a depth of 10 km, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
No casualties or damages have been reported so far. Ehsanullah Ehsan, head of the Disaster Management Authority in Kunar province, said such earthquakes are common.
The EU is sending aid to Afghanistan. Commission spokeswoman Eva Hrdinova announced that two humanitarian aid flights are expected in Kabul, carrying 130 tons of essential supplies. In addition, the European Commission has allocated 1 million euros for assistance.
