Karachi: Shopping Center Fire Kills 21, Dozens Missing

At least 21 people have died in a fire that broke out in a shopping center in Karachi, Pakistan. More than 60 people are missing.
The fire started on Saturday at the multi-story Gul Plaza shopping center, which houses over 1,200 stores. Firefighters took over 24 hours to control the blaze, while rescue efforts were hampered by thick smoke and lack of ventilation in the building.
Hassan Khan, head of rescue services, said that the search continues to locate the missing. Police estimate that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
Shopkeepers and residents complained about the delayed response of the fire department and lack of equipment.
