The head of the Shaolin Temple, Shi Yongxin, has been removed from the Buddhist Association of China following allegations of embezzlement and inappropriate relationships.

Shi Yongxin, known as the 'CEO monk,' is under investigation for criminal offenses and violating the principles of Buddhism, including relationships with women and fathering a child.

The Buddhist Association of China revoked Shi Yongxin's ordination certificate, claiming he 'seriously undermined the reputation of the Buddhist community.'

Similar allegations surfaced in 2015, but Shi Yongxin was acquitted in 2016.

In 2018, the head of the Buddhist Association of China, Xuecheng, was also removed. In the same year, the Chinese flag was raised at the Shaolin Monastery, signaling pressure from the Chinese leadership to promote national consciousness.
