Over 1 Million Displaced in Pakistan Due to Floods

More than 1 million people have been displaced from their homes in the Punjab province of Pakistan due to severe flooding. The floods, the worst in 40 years, have caused chaos in hundreds of villages.
Heavy monsoon rains and the release of water from dams in India led to the overflow of three rivers. Authorities were forced to open sections of riverbanks, flooding over 1,400 villages.
Residents are trying to cross flooded roads, with water reaching chest height. The death toll in Pakistan since late June stands at 819, while at least 12 people have died in Punjab this week.
India issued flood warnings to Pakistan, calling them a humanitarian measure.
