Turkey: Court to Decide on Leadership of Republican People's Party

The court's decision regarding the annulment of the 38th Congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP) in Turkey is expected today. The decision will determine whether the current leader, Özgür Özel, will remain in his position or be replaced by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
The lawsuit for the annulment of the congress was filed by the former Mayor of Antioch, Lütfü Savaş, and other delegates. If the court decides in favor of the annulment, Kılıçdaroğlu will return to the leadership, while Özel and the central committee will lose their positions.
The current CHP leadership has called on Kılıçdaroğlu not to accept such a decision, arguing that the case is politically motivated. Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş have also expressed their views on the situation.
The CHP is developing a strategy to deal with the potential court decision, with plans including preventing Kılıçdaroğlu from entering the party headquarters. In case of annulment, the party will file an appeal and begin procedures for holding a regular congress.
