13-Year-Old Hero Saves Family from Drowning in Australia

A 13-year-old boy saved his family from drowning at a beach in Western Australia after strong winds swept them out to sea. Austin Appelby swam for hours to seek help, while his mother, Joanne Appelby, and younger siblings were swept approximately 14 kilometers from the coast.
The family was enjoying themselves with SUP boards and a kayak when the wind intensified. Austin took the kayak to seek help, but the kayak broke. Despite the difficulties, he swam to shore and called emergency services.
Rescuers described his effort as "superhuman." Austin, although exhausted, was taken to the hospital and was later informed that his family had been rescued.
Austin has returned to school, emphasizing that he did what he had to do.
