AlphaNews.Live visited Auschwitz, the largest Nazi concentration camp in Poland and a symbol of the Holocaust. There, at least 1.1 million people, mainly Jews, but also Poles, Roma, and Soviet prisoners of war, were brutally murdered.

Auschwitz operated from 1940 to 1945 and included the main camps: Auschwitz I, II-Birkenau, III-Monowitz. It was liberated by the Red Army on January 27, 1945.

Visiting Auschwitz evokes intense emotions. Visitors encounter clothes, shoes (including children's), and suitcases of victims, as well as prisoners' hair used for industrial purposes. The crematorium ovens indicate the transformation of death into an industrial process.

The images and testimonies from Auschwitz remain etched in memory, underscoring the importance of remembrance and preventing similar atrocities in the future.
