The main train station in Salzburg was closed for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes today due to a leak of dangerous chemicals from a freight train, as announced by a spokesperson for the Austrian Federal Railways (OBB).

Special teams were deployed to the scene to address the leak. According to the newspaper Kurier, the chemical substance that leaked from the wagon was sodium methoxide.

The train station has now reopened, but Austrian authorities have warned the public about potential train delays in the coming hours. The causes of the leak remain unclear.
