Louvre Heist: Treasures Stolen in 4 Minutes

An alarm was raised at the Louvre Museum following a heist in which perpetrators stole valuable treasures in a matter of minutes. The French government held an emergency meeting, and the museum remained closed to the public.
According to the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, the burglars knew exactly what they were looking for and acted with speed and organization. One of the perpetrators tried to set fire to the ladder they used to enter.
Dati defended the museum's security measures, stressing that the priority is the safety of visitors. The Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, admitted that the authorities had failed to prevent the burglary. The possibility of foreign involvement was not ruled out.
Among the stolen items are the sapphire necklace of Queen Maria Amalia and the brooch of Empress Eugenie. Authorities are continuing investigations to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items.
