EU's New Border Control System to Launch in October

The new European border control system, known as the Entry/Exit System (EES), is expected to launch on October 12, according to Bloomberg. This system aims to monitor those entering the European Union.
The EES will record data of third-country nationals entering 29 European countries, including biometric data such as fingerprints and facial images. EU member states will have six months to fully implement the system.
The goal of the EES is twofold: to speed up entry procedures for legitimate travelers and to enhance security by combating illegal immigration and identity fraud. The European Commission has described the launch of the EES as an important step towards a more secure and efficient border management system.
The implementation of the EES was originally scheduled for November of last year but was postponed due to technical difficulties and concerns from tourism agencies.
