Athens on Alert Over Libya-Turkey Agreements

Greece is closely monitoring developments following Libya's announcement of a memorandum of understanding between the Libyan National Oil Corporation and Turkish TPAO for geological and geophysical studies in four offshore areas.
Greek sources stated that Greece will not accept any violation of its sovereign rights. Athens believes this is an attempt to revive the Turkish-Libyan memorandum.
The planned visit of the Greek Foreign Minister to Libya is uncertain. Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to comment on the issue at the European Council, seeking a reiteration of the 2019 position that the Turkish-Libyan memorandum is illegal and produces no legal effect.
