Prosecutor Recommends Sarkozy's Release Under Supervision

The prosecutor has recommended the release of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy under judicial supervision, during the examination of his appeal at the Paris Court of Appeal. Sarkozy has been in prison for 20 days for a corruption case.
Prosecutor Damien Bruné stressed that the seriousness of the facts should not influence the decision, but only the criteria of Article 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Sarkozy stated that his stay in prison is "very harsh", "exhausting" and "a nightmare". He was convicted in the case of the financing of his 2007 election campaign by the Gaddafi regime.
